Passive control of wake flow behind a square cylinder using a flat plate

In this study, control over the wake flow of a single square cylinder exercised by flat plate attached to rear side is analyzed numerically via lattice Boltzmann method. The Reynolds number ( Re ) fixed at 150, and length varied from 0.1 8.5. Three distinct modes are observed in study: unsteady, transient, steady cases lengths id="m2">L ranges id="m3">≤ id="m4">L id="m5">≤ 6.5, 6.75 id="m6">≤ id="m7">L id="m8">≤ 7.5, 7.75 id="m9">≤ id="m10">L id="m11">≤ 8.5, respectively. streamlines exhibit different structures, termed hairpin-like, ellipse-like, elongated bubble-like, values L . Complete achieved beyond 7.75. This study reveals that drag lift coefficients unsteadiness short early time steps, but as increases, slows down eventually disappears, confirming pattern. mean coefficient id="m12">CDm ), Strouhal id="m13">St root-mean-square value id="m14">CDrms ; id="m15">CLrms reduced maximums 23.5%, 100%, 84.6%, 99.5%, respectively, result presence plate.
